Don’t Let Your Chores Overwhelm You
Hello everyone, Aaron here.
Was this week a ”nothing special” kind of week for you? Did you have any special projects that you finally finished?
I swear, ”nothing special” is the most popular answer when I ask ESL students what they did last week. 🙂
For me, this was an interesting week. I finished up a couple of projects that had been delayed for a long time.
First and foremost, my own digital bookshelf was finally completed. Simply put, I have gathered the titles and author information for every book I can remember reading, from my entire life. Super nerd behavior, I know.
All that information has been compiled into a spreadsheet, sorted out by years when possible, and spread over multiple tabs. There is one final tab in the Google Sheet with all the titles combined. It was a lot of work, but now my scattered brain can remember which book I want to recommend to people!
I, your humble English instructor, am now past the age of 30, and the mind just isn’t what it was. I need help tidying up my own past and memories; truly, spreadsheets are helping.
In addition to the completion of that formidable but worthy task, other more mundane chores were finished. I did the laundry, swept the floor, and made lunch everyday. At some point, a single man needs to stop ordering takeout fried chicken for lunch. (Check in on the single guys in your life; they might be eating more junk food than you can imagine.)
Whether it’s a mundane chore or a bigger project, I find the best way to finish these things is step by step.
Don’t let it overwhelm you.
Cheers – Aaron
